The rose bush was delivered with bare root ball. The packaging was perfect to keep the roots cool. I proceeded immediately with the planting according to the advice on the website for this variety of rose. Looking forward to a successful growth for beautiful roses this summer.

Description

Rosa Rose Alleyson, named after the Lyon country music artist of the same name, displays large turbinate roses in a stable amber-yellow colour that does not fade. The flowers are beautifully highlighted by glossy foliage of a vibrant green. The flowers emit a powerful scent. This repeat-flowering variety adapts to all exposures, even the sunniest ones, and performs particularly well in pots.

Rosa Rose Alleyson was launched in 2015 by the Orard rose gardens, a family business located in Feyzin, not far from Lyon. It is classified as a modern large-flowered rose, also known as a hybrid tea rose, as evidenced by the turbinate shape of its flowers. It blooms abundantly from June to October, in successive waves, as long as the soil remains somewhat moist and faded blooms are regularly removed. The plant forms a bushy and upright shrub, with a rapid growth rate. It reaches an average height of 85cm (34in) with a spread of 50 to 60cm (20 to 24in). The large flowers are turbinate and well-formed, composed of more than 30 petals. Their colour is a superb warm yellow, tending towards orange at the centre. Their fragrance is intense, especially in hot weather. The tough and semi-glossy foliage is highly resistant to diseases. The deciduous foliage falls in autumn and regrows in spring.

Rosa Rose Alleyson looks wonderful in a large mass of roses, grouped in 3 to 5 plants, or as a standalone feature in a well-maintained garden. It can also be grown in a pot on a patio. This variety adapts to all climates and to all soils that are not too dry, making it suitable for many regions, even at medium altitudes. It pairs perfectly with white, red, yellow, and orange roses, as well as with beautiful and easy-to-grow plants such as perennial geraniums (Geranium 'Blue Cloud', G. 'Anne Folkard', G. 'Nimbus', G. 'Orion'), campanulas (lactiflora, rapunculoides), catmints, cornflowers, foxgloves, and phlox. Its flowers can be used to create elegant bouquets.

Planting and care

Work the soil to a depth of 40 cubic cm, crumble the soil well, and place a base amendment such as dried blood or dehydrated horn at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant, removed from its pot, and cover the top of the root ball with 3cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate air pockets. In dry weather, water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth. Provide your rose with special rose fertiliser that stimulates flowering in plants.
