Shrubs arrived in very good condition and clearly in good health. I'm looking forward to seeing if the colours are as beautiful as in the photos!

Description

The 'Little Sunset' miniature rose bush, growing in a rounded dome shape and covered in multiple small rounds and double roses with a yellow heart bordered by a deep pink, is a true little sunset for borders and flower beds, ideally suited to the decor of planters, containers, and borders. It blooms from May to November, in the sun, in any ordinary soil that remains moist.

The flowers of the 'Little Sunset' miniature rose, arranged in terminal clusters, come from the polyantha rose from which it originates. 'Little Sunset' has a balanced and harmonious habit, not exceeding 40 cm (16in) in all directions. The double flowers, with a turbinate shape (like those of modern roses), are 3 cm (1in) wide and bicoloured, with an amber yellow bordered by carmine pink to cherry red, and they are not scented. They bloom in large numbers in broad pyramidal clusters from May-June to October. The flowers are followed by small, highly decorative fruits that remain on the bush for a long time at the end of the season. This vigorous and fairly disease-resistant variety develops deciduous, dark green foliage with a satin-like appearance. Its reddish stems bear thorns.

Obtained by Kordes in 2007.

The robust 'Little Sunset' rose bush adapts to all soils that are not too dry and prefers fertile soils. Its very compact and well-groomed appearance works wonders in rock gardens or on slopes where it will cover the ground. It can also be planted in groups of 3 plants, arranged in a triangle, isolated on a lawn. Plant it en masse along pathways or to highlight shrub beds. Flowers in the same tones, yellow to orange or red, make good companions, such as crocosmias, gaillardias, or marigolds. It is naturally perfect for decorating a terrace or balcony, planted in a beautiful pot or container.

Planting and care

Planting your rose requires some preparation. Begin by working the soil to a depth of 25 cubic cm and adding a base amendment like blood, fish, and bone to the bottom of the planting hole. Remove the plant from its pot and position it by covering the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Refill the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. It's essential to water the rose regularly for a few weeks during dry weather to help the roots grow. Use a special rose fertiliser that stimulates plant flowering. Choose a sunny location or partial shade to plant your rose in hot regions.

Roses may develop unsightly spots at the end of summer, but this is a natural occurrence and doesn't harm the rose's growth.
