Description

The Street Colours 'Champs Elysées' or 'Meiplumty' Rose Bush comes from the 'Street Colours' series, which offers new-generation landscaping roses suitable for small city gardens and container gardening. This variety offers an abundance of single wild rose flowers on a modest-sized, dense, and rounded bush from May until the first frost. With exceptional disease resistance and tolerance to pollution, its semi-matte dark green foliage enhances its pale pink bud roses, which bloom into bright white wild roses with just a hint of pink. Versatile and low-maintenance, it is also an ideal rose bush for amateur gardeners.

The 'Champs Elysées' or 'Meiplumty' Rose Bush is a Meilland landscaping rose that belongs to a new range called 'Street Colours', designed to adapt to small urban spaces, with remarkable floribundity, disease-free plants, and minimal maintenance. It eventually forms a bush with a slight spreading habit, reaching a height of 30 to 60 cm (12 to 24in) and a width of 50 to 60 cm (20 to 24in). From spring to autumn, on its semi-matte dark green foliage, clusters of 3 to 10 wild roses per stem, with 5 petals and a width of 6 cm (2in), bloom. Starting as pale pink buds, they open into innocent white flowers with just a hint of pink, with a golden stamen centre.

This 'Champs Elysées' or 'Meiplumty' rose bush can be planted in any garden, regardless of its size, on balconies and patios. It adapts to all soils that are not too dry and to all climates. Easy to grow, all you must do is admire it and find companions in flower beds or borders. Pair it with simple, naturally-shaped perennials, such as gauras, which also have a white-pink colour, lavenders, and rudbeckias. Clumps of grasses complete this informal flower bed. Add a few small-sized bushes like dwarf Abelias and Caryopteris. In a large pot, it quickly becomes very ornamental before being cut for bouquets.

Planting and care

This 'Champs Élysées' rose is a low-maintenance plant regarding soil and exposure. To plant your rose in a pot, work the soil to a depth of 25 cm (10in), crumble the soil well, and place a base amendment such as blood, fish and bone at the bottom of the planting hole. Position your plant free from its pot, and cover the top of the root ball with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill in the hole and water generously to eliminate any air pockets. During dry weather, it's necessary to water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root growth.

Similarly, remember to water regularly in hot and dry weather during the first two years. Once established, your rose will not require watering in the summer. Also, remember to apply special rose fertilisers to stimulate plant flowering.
