Description
The Meillandecor Rose 'Pink Chantilly' or 'Meilevire' is a landscape rose, bushy and of modest size, as wide as it is tall, covered in flowers from May until the first frost, even during the hottest summer heatwaves. Its roses are small, clustered together in pastel harmony. Their colour is a soft rose with hints of apricot and peach, fading to white as they fade. They also fall off once they are withered, a useful "self-cleaning" function. The shiny green foliage remains healthy throughout the season. Overall, it is a generous and versatile rose, appreciated by beginners and lovers of classic roses.
The landscape roses in the Meillandecor series have a bushy habit, forming rounded and regular bushes as wide as they are tall while offering abundant and regular flowering throughout the beautiful season. Their strengths include exceptional resistance to diseases and pests, almost permanent decorative effects, and dense vegetation. 'Pink Chantilly' or 'Meilevire' reaches 60 cm (24in) in all directions when fully grown. The flowers, clustered in large terminal bunches, are 6 cm (2in) in diameter and consist of approximately 12 petals arranged in more or less open cups. Their colour is a soft pink with apricot and peach highlights, fading to white towards the end. They are fragrance-free. This variety develops shiny green foliage.
The Meillandecor Rose 'Pink Chantilly' or 'Meilevire' is not demanding. It adapts to all soils that are not too dry and to all climates, which allows it to be welcomed without reservation from the north to the south of our country, even in the average mountains. It integrates well into flowerbeds and can be planted in groups of 3 plants. Its small size and balanced habit make it suitable for border planting and pots on the patio or balcony. It can be paired with other shrubs, such as Purple Barberry and perennials, such as Lupins, at the beginning of the season, followed by Purple Toadflax, perennial geraniums, and Japanese anemones.

Planting and care
Rose bushes thrive in a sunny spot that gets at least 4 hours of sunshine every day. They prefer soil that is loose, permeable, and rich in humus, but can also tolerate regular soil. If you want to plant your rose bush in a pot, start by crumbling the soil in a 25 cm (10in) cube and adding a base amendment like blood, fish and bone at the bottom of the planting hole. After removing the plant from its pot, position it in the hole so that the top of the root ball is covered with 3 cm (1in) of soil. Fill the hole with soil and water it generously to eliminate air pockets. During dry weather, it's important to water regularly for a few weeks to encourage root growth. Additionally, don't forget to provide your rose bush with special rose fertiliser that will help to stimulate plant flowering.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.
In cold regions as well as with frost-sensitive plants, avoid pruning too early when severe frosts may still occur.
The harvesting period indicated on our website applies to countries and regions in USDA zone 8 (France, England, Ireland, the Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...) fruit and vegetable harvests are likely to be delayed by 3-4 weeks.
In warmer areas (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), harvesting will probably take place earlier, depending on weather conditions.
The sowing periods indicated on our website apply to countries and regions within USDA Zone 8 (France, UK, Ireland, Netherlands).
In colder areas (Scandinavia, Poland, Austria...), delay any outdoor sowing by 3-4 weeks, or sow under glass.
In warmer climes (Italy, Spain, Greece, etc.), bring outdoor sowing forward by a few weeks.
The planting period indicated on our website applies to regions in USDA Zone 9a (East Coast and Midlands: Dublin, Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny, Portlaoise). It will vary depending on where you live:
- On the west coast and in the north-west (Galway, Limerick, Sligo, Donegal, Westport), delay planting by 1 to 2 weeks in spring and bring it forward by 1 to 2 weeks in autumn compared to the dates given, preferably choosing periods without strong winds.
- In the inland hills and plateaus (Wicklow Mountains, Macgillycuddy’s Reeks, Connemara, Killarney), it is best to plant in spring (April–May) or autumn (September–October), avoiding periods of waterlogged soil in winter and strong winds, which pose the main risk to newly planted trees in these areas.
The flowering period indicated on our website applies to regions in USDA Zone 9a, such as the East Coast and Midlands, including Dublin, Wexford, Waterford, Kilkenny and Portlaoise.
This will vary depending on where you live:
- On the west coast and in the northwest (Galway, Limerick, Sligo, Donegal and Westport), it will be delayed by one to two weeks compared to the given dates, due to stronger Atlantic winds and less spring sunshine.
- In the inland hills and plateaus (the Wicklow Mountains, the Macgillycuddy's Reeks, Connemara and Killarney), flowering will be delayed by two to three weeks. Flowering mainly occurs between May and July, with the limiting factors being less frost and more of the excessive humidity, strong winds and lack of sunshine that are characteristic of these areas.
