Description

Rosa 'Valse' is a repeat-flowering climbing rose that is covered with bouquets of beautiful white flowers throughout summer. Its abundant and highly fragrant roses are a delight for the eyes and nose, standing out perfectly against beautiful shiny foliage.

This particularly healthy climbing rose is very vigorous and resistant to frost and diseases. It is ideal for dressing up a wall or pergola, even in humid areas.

Rosa 'Valse' is a Danish creation from Poulsen. This house of rose and clematis breeders, founded in 1878, is known for its healthy, fragrant, and high-quality creations. Poulsen has become the official supplier to the royal court of Denmark.

Poulsen creation, 2000.

Planting and care

It prefers sunny locations, while being very tolerant in this regard. Excessive limestone can cause chlorosis. This rose is highly disease-resistant, but if you notice any stained or affected leaves, remove them without delay. To plant your rose, work the soil by crumbling it and add an amendment (dried blood or dehydrated horn) at the bottom of the planting hole. Water thoroughly after planting to remove air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate root development.

Roses are often stained or unsightly at the end of summer, but this does not affect their development. These spots are not harmful to the rose and are a natural phenomenon.

Care

Pruning instructions Spring pruning involves removing a portion of the old branches at the base each year, thus maintaining a framework while rejuvenating the rose. Trim the branches from the current year to 3 or 4 buds. To achieve abundant flowering in your roses, regularly bend and tie the branches that can grow up to 1m (3ft) per week in summer. Each bend leads to lateral growth that ends in a bouquet of flowers. Remove faded flowers to encourage new buds to form.
Pruning Pruning recommended once a year
Pruning time April to May
Soil moisture Moist soil
Overwinter Can be left in the ground
