Thanks to the individuals (for order preparation and shipping), the rose bush I received appears healthy. Planted near an apricot tree, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... or not?" Analysis and correction: - "rosier" can be translated as "rose bush" in this context. - "reprise" can be translated as "take root" or "establish itself". - "ou pas ?" can be translated as "or not?" to maintain the same tone.

More information

This climbing rose, repeat flowering, is part of the Siluetta series from Kordes. It flowers almost continuously from May to October, with well double flowers in a pastel pink colour reminiscent of old roses. Adaptable, it grows equally well in partial shade, and its flowering is just as prolific. It also adapts very well to container planting, and its modest size is perfect for covering a trellis or fence. As it is also very disease-resistant, it is suitable for all gardeners!

Description

The 'Siluetta Romantic' Rose belongs to a line of roses developed in Germany by the rose breeder Kordes for their vigorous climbing habit, small size as they reach a maximum height of 2m (7ft), covered with many small flowers. Very recurrent, their floribundance is matched only by their robustness and disease resistance. 'Romantic' offers summer flowers with double-cup-shaped blooms and a delicate fragrance. In a pastel pink colour, they measure 4 to 5 cm (2in) in diameter, and their numerous tightly packed petals evoke old varieties. They are gathered in clusters on perfectly healthy, satin green foliage, on flexible stems carried by a well-branched bush.

'Romantic Siluetta' or 'KORsilu09' is a repeat flowering climbing rose that appeared on the European market in 2020. Vigorous, it has a flexible habit and thorny stems, reaching a height of 2m (7ft) with a spread of 80cm (32in). Its green and satin foliage is exceptionally healthy and perfectly showcases the pretty clusters of well-rounded small flowers, measuring 4 to 5 cm (2in) in a pastel pink colour. It blooms almost continuously, from May to October, abundantly, as long as it is not lacking water. Its flowers are double and have a delicate yet present fragrance.

The Siluetta roses are well-suited to elegantly cover a fence, pergola, or trellis on a wall. They allow for the creation of modest yet sumptuous displays throughout the summer. They require very little maintenance except for regular watering in summer during periods of high heat and prolonged drought. Pair them with each other, or combine them with easy-to-grow large-flowered clematis like 'Broughton Star'. They are good companions for panicled phlox, delphiniums, digitalis, catmints, and tall baby's breath. Romantic does well when grown in a large pot with moist substrate. Its flowering is not affected by being planted in partial shade.

Planting and care

From November to March, plant the 'Siluetta Romantic' rose in ordinary, well-worked, and well-drained soil. Roses prefer clayey soils over light soils. In case of sandy, compact, or dry soil during summer, it's best to add compost or well-rotted manure at the bottom of the planting hole. However, this rose doesn't do well in waterlogged soils during winter. Place it in a sunny location, preferably in partial shade. Roses require a lot of nutrients, so a specific fertiliser will be helpful at the beginning of growth and regularly throughout the flowering season. To stimulate reblooming, it's necessary to remove faded flowers regularly. In late winter, prune the stems to roughly one-quarter of their length (from 4 to 6 buds from the base of the stem). Always prune above an outward-facing bud to encourage bushy growth and prevent branches from intertwining in the centre.

Roses may appear stained or unsightly at the end of summer. However, it is a natural phenomenon that doesn't harm their development.
