Planting and care

Plant in full sun, or partial shade in warmer regions - phlox are more comfortable in a cool climate in summer, especially at night. Give them a rich and well-drained soil which has been deeply worked. Stake if necessary as the stems can bend under the weight of the leaves. Prune the flowers as they fade in order to prolong the flowering. Phlox is sensitive to powdery mildew; ensure regular watering in summer and keep an eye out for its appearance in order to carry out early treatment.
