Description

The Persicaria filiformis Compton's Red is a beautiful perennial with stunning brown foliage marked with a chocolate "V", adorned with thread-like red-pink spikes.

This perennial knotweed forms a rounded clump, non-suckering, with flexible and slender stems measuring 60-80cm (24-32in) in height. In mid-summer, it bears red-pink flowers in long, thin, and thread-like spikes, which earned it the name Persicaria filiformis.

This plant is highly variable; the clone we offer has deciduous leaves in a beautiful green-brown color, strongly marked with a chocolate "V" on the upper surface of the lamina.

Easy to grow, Persicaria Compton's Red thrives in partial shade and any rich, moist to wet soil. Plant it in the middle or back of a border, at the edge of a woodland, or in a lush garden alongside lysimachia clethroides, hosta Sum and Substance, and Rodgersia aesculifolia.
