Description

The Lunaria rediviva has the same qualities as the classic money plant, but it is a perennial.

Also known as honesty, money plant or silver dollar plant, the Lunaria rediviva is not a biennial like its sisters, but a long-lived perennial!

Just like its biennial sister, it produces large triangular leaves with toothed edges. The flowers, which grow up to 1m (3ft) in height, are arranged in clusters and are white shaded with a mauve veil, delicately scented. Blooming later than its annual cousin, its flowering period extends from May to July. It is followed by translucent, silver-white fruit capsules, smaller but longer than those of the classic money plant. They can also be dried and used in floral arrangements.

Easy to grow, Lunaria rediviva thrives in partial shade and appreciates rich, moist, and deep soils. Plant it under large trees or in lightly shaded beds, alongside hostas, Asian primroses, epimediums, and astrantias.
