Description

Kalimeris Incisa 'Nana Blue' is an easy-to-grow and charming perennial. Its multiple small flowers, resembling those of asters, are pale-blue with a yellow centre. They bloom from July to September and are incredibly popular with pollinators. The flowers provide you with bouquets throughout the summer and give the garden a very natural look.

'Nana Blue' is a rather compact perennial in the shape of a small bush, 40cm (16in) in all directions. Its upright stems bear deciduous, oblong, toothed and light green leaves. Small but numerous, they cover the clump, forming a green background that welcomes countless flowers from the end of spring. These flowers are similar to asters, with small daisy-like flowers measuring 2 to 3cm (1in) in diameter. They have a yellow centre and a row of graceful, long and thin florets, with a very soft blue hue. This pretty clump is essential at the front of borders and provides easy flowering during the summer season. Kalimeris is a robust, hardy perennial (it easily withstands temperatures below -15°C (5°F)) and requires little monitoring. Removing faded flowers will suffice.

This perennial appreciates full sun, but will tolerate partial shade. It prefers ordinary, well-drained soil with a tendency to be moist. Once established, it can tolerate some drought.

'Nana Blue' benefits from being placed at the edge of borders, in a ribbon, thus highlighting the silhouette of tall summer flowers such as lavateras and dame's rocket. For a wild effect, combine it with yarrows, sidalceas and field scabious, at the base of Rosa 'Ballerina' or Buddleia 'Lochinch'.
