Description

Heuchera 'Peach Flambé' is a true autumn decoration: its large evergreen leaves are dark peach in spring and turn intense plum in winter.

This hardy perennial grows in a spreading, evergreen clump on a rhizomatous stump. It has large, dark peach leaves that turn plum in winter; these are rounded, lobed, prominently veined, and carried on long petioles. In June, very fine stems bear small white bell-shaped flowers in a very light cluster.

Heuchera 'Peach Flambé' is easy to grow and thrives in light, moist soil in semi-shaded areas. It tolerates periods of drought quite well.

Very colourful, Heuchera 'Peach Flambé' forms a beautiful carpet at the base of trees when combined with ferns. In autumn containers, with sedges, cyclamens, or heathers, or in floral arrangements, it adds a touch of lightness.

Planting and care

Heuchera 'Peach Flambé' should be planted from September to April in a light, rich, moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. Space them 30 cm (12 in) apart in all directions. Mulch the soil in summer, fertilise potted plants, and divide old, sparse clumps in spring. During winter, heucheras renew their foliage, so cut back the previous year's leaves from January to February. The roots tend to lift, so it is necessary to mulch every year or potentially uproot and replant in September and October, ensuring the collar is level with the ground. Beware of leaf eelworms, vine weevils, and galls that can cause viruses and pose a problem.
