Description

Alcea rosea 'Nigra' is a beautiful variety of hollyhock with almost black flowers.

Hollyhocks are a must-have in country gardens. They bear a continuous succession of flowers on their long stems. They are ideal for adding verticality to flower beds. They are a fairly short-lived perennial but they self-seed abundantly.

Plant it in a sheltered spot to prevent it from falling over. Very easy to grow, it prefers well-drained but fairly rich soil. It is extremely hardy.
