Planting and care

Plant your biennial plug plants and bulbs in a container or a large pot, in a sunny position or possibly partial shade. They need light and humus-rich soil and appreciate a fertiliser input. Plant the bulbs first, at a depth of about 10cm (4in), fill with potting soil up to 1 or 2cm (1in) from the edge of the pot, and then plant the biennial plug plants, spacing them about 10 to 15cm (4 to 6in) apart in all directions. In a pot, the biennials should be watered at planting, and you can store them during winter on a balcony or a window ledge protected from cold winds.
