Description

Noted for its white star-shaped flowers, earning it the name "Dancer Star," the Rhynchospora colorata brings a touch of orginality to boggy or damp gardens and luxuriant terraces.

Called the White-star Sedge by English speakers, this perennial grass-like plant, native to the southeast United States, grows in wet and marshy areas.

warm-climates plant, closely related to the Papyrus, it requires a lot of moisture to grow and flower properly. From mid-summer, it produces a multitude of inflorescences composed of three white star-shaped bracts. At 60cm (23.6 in) tall, it forms a clumping crown and therefore does not spread much.

Perennial, but hardy to -6C°, it will find its place in gardens with mild winters, on the edges of a pond or in a bog garden. Elsewhere, it should be grown in pots, in sun or part-shade, but always with a sufficient supply of water for good growth. A small saucer under the pot will suffice.
