For the first time at Promesse de Fleurs, I am giving only 3 Stars. Indeed, as usual, I received my package on time, but it clearly suffered a fall during transport. Externally, everything looked fine, but inside it was a real disaster. All the plants I ordered were wandering outside of their pots, especially this vine which, as a result, had completely bare roots. Moreover, its stem seems thin to me, and the leaf buds are barely visible. As a precaution, I planted it immediately, and if I don't get good results, I will contact Promesse de Fleurs' customer services. I am a bit disappointed because it's the first time I am not completely satisfied with the appearance of the plant and the delivery at Promesse de Fleurs, but I still have hope...

Description

The 'Champion' Muscat vine or Vitis vinifera 'Champion' is an interesting bush as a climbing plant with autumn interest. This beautiful vine produces white Muscat grapes. It is an easy-to-grow perennial that perfectly adorns a south-facing wall or can also cover a pergola.

In spring, the 'Champion' Muscat grape vine is decorative with its young tender green leaves. In autumn, its deciduous leaves take on reddish tones. The leaves of the Vitis vinifera 'Champion' are diamond-shaped, 20 cm (8in) long, and heart-shaped. It is hardy and can withstand temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F).

This fruit tree produces beautiful ramified, juicy, and sweet clusters of white muscat grapes in September that last until October. There are numerous small greenish flowers appearing. The vine reaches a height of 7m (23ft) at maturity. The white grape it produces is used for the production of white wine and can also be consumed fresh.

Planting and care

The 'Champion' Vine is planted in ordinary and well-drained soil, neutral or chalky, rather moist, which you will have enriched with an organic fertiliser. Choose a full sun exposure, possibly partial shade in the south. It can withstand temperatures as low as -20°C (-4°F). Prune it vigorously in February by cutting it back severely. Prune it again in June more lightly to achieve good fruiting. Remove every year the branches that have produced fruits. Support and guide the branches by staking or training them. Train it against a wall in full sun to benefit directly from the grapes. Powdery mildew and powdery mildew are very common, which is why the vine should be treated as a precaution.
