Organic farming
Arboricultural whitewash is a coating based on limewash, long used to protect fruit or ornamental trees from pathogenic fungi, parasites, and mosses. It also limits exudation when planting tall standard young plants, and protects sensitive young trunks from sun scorch as well as the effects of frost in spring. This ready-to-use, 100% natural liquid wash is suitable for organic agriculture. 1L container.

Protecta Natural Tree Whitewash is a limewash-based coating that has been used for a long time to protect trees from various diseases and parasites. It is one of those winter treatments, known as 'foundation' treatments, somewhat neglected in recent years, yet its effectiveness is proven, as is its harmlessness to the environment. Applied preventatively, this old-fashioned whitewash will save the gardener a number of problems on their trees and will help reduce the use of fungicides and insecticides during the growing season. This ready-to-use, liquid preparation can be applied to trunks with a brush, in one or two coats.

Applied to dry bark in the heart of winter, this whitewash provides continuous and uniform protection for trunks and the base of main branches. It is composed of slaked lime (calcium dihydroxide or hydrated lime), mixed with water. Applied like a paint, it constitutes a physico-chemical protection with recognised antiseptic properties. Tree whitewash is effective against diseases induced by pathogenic fungi such as fruit tree canker (Neonectria galligena), scabs, moniliosis and peach leaf curl, whose spores hide in bark cracks in winter. Its presence also limits the development of mosses and lichens; it suffocates and destroys the larvae of certain pests that also find refuge in the bark. Furthermore, limewash reduces exudation when planting standard trees. Due to its white colour, which reflects light and limits temperature variations, limewash protects young bark and graft points from sunburn as well as late frosts. Tree whitewash is recommended for protecting pip and stone fruit trees, ornamental trees (limes, horse chestnuts, during top-grafting operations, etc...). It is suitable for use in Organic Agriculture.

METHOD OF APPLICATION / DOSE:
- Apply up to the base of the main branches.
- Avoid application just before rain; risk of leaching.
- The whitewash, applied to dry bark, has an average duration of 1 to 4 months (depending on thickness and precipitation). It is essential to check, after application, that the whitewash covers the entire surface uniformly. After drying, apply a second coat if necessary to obtain a thicker layer that will last longer.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE:

Cleaning: Equipment should be cleaned with water immediately after use.

STORAGE:

Store in a cool, dry place.
