Description

The Geranium 'Candy Flowers Peach Cloud' is a new hybrid variety that combines many qualities. Its singular flowers, of beautiful size, brightly coloured in pink and white, bloom abundantly on a compact, robust, vigorous plant that offers excellent heat, weather, and drought resistance. And of course, it blooms from spring until the first frost. A champion in all categories for balconies!

This hybrid geranium is a recent variety, derived among others from the Pelargonium zonale, a plant from the geranium family native to South Africa. The 'Candy Flowers' pelargoniums have the particularity of a compact and bushy, upright habit, as well as beautiful flower heads with unusual colours. Always more floriferous and with rapid growth, 'Candy Flowers Peach Cloud' forms a rounded clump of about 40 cm (16in) in all directions. Its leaves are rounded, with lobed edges, toothed, fairly vibrant green, slightly fleshy and aromatic. The flowering, long and abundant, takes place from May until September-October. It regularly renews itself, even in hot weather. The large flower umbels are rounded and well open, composed of flowers with 6 wide, undulate petals, with a slightly orange-pink colour and a white base, maculated with a deeper coral pink.

Florist geraniums are generous and undemanding plants, but this 'Candy Flowers Peach Cloud' variety surpasses them with the originality of its colour. It is a perfect plant to decorate pots for a large part of the year, without requiring much maintenance. Once reserved for balconies and terraces, pelargoniums are making a very noticeable entrance into sunny flower beds and borders. Plant them en masse to create a lasting and cheerful decoration throughout the warm season. These plants tolerate a lack of water quite well, which allows them to be associated with garden verbenas, lobelias in unheard-of blues, black or purple-leaved ipomeas (Ipomoea 'Illusion Midnight Lace', Ipomoea 'Sweet Heart Purple'). Create magnificent pots and hanging baskets by combining them with white or red varieties, 'Million Bells', variegated periwinkles, Dichondra 'Silver Falls', violets, calibrachoas...

Note: Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant and store them under cover (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being placed outdoors once the risk of frost is definitively gone.

Planting and care

You can plant your 'Candy Flowers Peach Cloud' geraniums in the ground or in a pot. If you want to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed. In the meantime, you can prepare them in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth.

The geraniums will flower for a long period of time. Plant them in a sunny or partially shaded location, sheltered from strong winds. They need a light and humus-rich soil, but above all, well-draining, as they tolerate water shortage quite well, but not stagnant humidity. Do not water them too much at the beginning of their growth, as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during hot summer temperatures, especially when grown in pots. Geraniums are sensitive to frost (minimum -2°).

Very floriferous and fast-growing, they are hungry plants. We recommend feeding them with a liquid geranium fertiliser once or twice a week during the growth period. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking good and prolong flowering.
