I received the package with the pelargoniums on one side, the pots on the other, and the soil elsewhere. This is the second time this has happened in 2 years, I had already reported this malfunction but nothing has been done.

Description

This Geranium or Pelargonium 'Angel's Perfume' is an irresistible new variety, combining exuberant and brightly coloured flowering with aromatic foliage. The plant is equally captivating with its countless small single and bicoloured flowers, pale pink and burgundy-red, as well as its astonishing crinkled foliage with a rustic lemon fragrance. Its bushy and slightly arching habit is ideal for flowering pots, providing a permanent decoration outdoors or in the conservatory. Another delicious and easy-to-grow pelargonium that one needs to protect from frost to find it intact in spring.

Florist's pelargoniums are perennial hybrids of the geraniaceae family, in a large group called Pelargonium x domesticum. They are mostly derived from Pelargonium cucullatum, native to the southwest of the Cape Province in South Africa, with the contribution of different wild species. The group of 'Angel' type geraniums, which emerged in the 1930s, brings together plants resulting from various crosses between Pelargonium crispum (with aromatic foliage) and florist's pelargoniums, very floriferous. The 'Angel's Perfume' geranium, which is part of this group of hybrids, is a very recent variety that combines qualities. The plant forms a bushy and dense clump with a slightly spreading and arching habit, with a medium growth, reaching about 35 cm (14in) in height and 30 cm (12in) in width. It produces a mass of single flowers from June to October. Each flower consists of two velvety burgundy upper petals and three pale pink lower petals splashed with burgundy red. Its succulent stems bear small lobed and strongly toothed leaves, quite thick, deeply veined, with crinkled edges, in a medium green colour. Their fragrance resembles that of lemon, with a slight floral note.

Florist's geraniums create lasting and cheerful displays throughout the summer. They prefer semi-shaded positions and coolness. These plants tolerate a lack of light quite well, which allows them to be combined with hostas, ferns, impatiens, lobelias in astonishing blues, or begonias. Create magnificent pots and hanging baskets by combining colours and foliage, whether solid or variegated. The 'Angel's Perfume' variety can be a magnificent specimen in a conservatory or in the house, all year round, especially when flowering is scarce in winter.

Note: Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them in a sheltered place (conservatory, greenhouse, cold frame...) at a temperature above 14C° (52 F) for a few weeks before being installed outdoors once the risk of frost has definitively passed.

Planting and care

'Angel' florist geraniums thrive in fertile, well-drained, neutral to calcareous soils, well-tilled and in partial shade. Geraniums are demanding plants that require regular fertiliser inputs to bring out the best in them.

You can plant pelargoniums as early as March-April in mild climate regions, but you will need to bring them indoors in case of frost. To avoid any risk, wait until the end of frost to place them outside, usually around May in the North. When planting in pots or containers, use special geranium compost.

In the garden, wait until late April or even mid-May in the northernmost regions to plant them in the ground and provide a special geranium growing support to your soil.
