Description
The Portulaca 'Pazzaz Nano Yellow' is a compact annual Purslane, with a spreading and semi-trailing habit, very floriferous, ideal for adding colour to summer compositions. A small succulent-leaved plant, it offers good drought resistance, thrives in any well-drained soil, even poor soil, and only requires sunshine to thrive. This Nano Yellow variety offers bright yellow flowers from spring to summer, with open blooms on a darker yellow center. Perfect as a ground cover, in rockeries, as well as in small hanging baskets and containers.
The Portulaca oleracea 'Pazzaz Nano Yellow' belongs to the family of Portulacaceae. Its ancestor, the common purslane, is a herbaceous annual plant found in gardens, especially in hot and degraded or compacted soil, particularly dry in summer. It is particularly found in the South of France and throughout the Mediterranean basin. The varieties of the 'Pazzaz Nano' series have been selected for their increased floribundance, larger and more colorful flowers that remain open from morning until evening, as well as their compact habit.
This 'Pazzaz Nano Yellow' portulaca quickly forms a prostrate clump of creeping and branching stems, not exceeding 10 cm (4in) in height and spreading up to 40 cm (16in). The green stems bear small elongated, lanceolate and fleshy leaves, of a bright green colour, sometimes edged with copper tones. Flowering occurs from late spring until September. The 3-4 cm (1-2in) diameter flowers are composed of crinkled, iridescent petals resembling silk. They are a pure and vibrant yellow. A sunny exposure is required for them to fully open.
Plant the 'Pazzaz Nano Yellow' Purslane in rockeries, borders, hanging baskets, or pots, alone or in combination with other annual flowers. Whether in large masses or small touches, this undemanding and cheerful plant will bring life to any sunny corner without requiring much attention. This dense and semi-trailing plant is a good ground cover, to be planted in borders and flower beds alongside plants that thrive in dry conditions, such as dwarf artemisias, love-in-a-mist, thyme, California poppies, and sedums, for example.
Note: Please be aware that our young plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them under shelter (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14 °C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being installed outdoors once the risk of frost is definitively eliminated.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
