Description

The Flowering Ground Cover Mix is the result of a rigorous selection of the best perennial plants adapted to difficult areas: shallow soils, quick drying, nutrient-poor, exposed to scorching sun and wind. Among them, competitive plants from scrubland and arid rockeries, capable of surviving with almost no maintenance. They are sown from spring to autumn, and in a few years they will form a diverse ground cover, more or less evergreen in winter, blooming from April to August.

This mix of perennial flowers was nominated for the Innovert New Products Competition in 2011, at the Salon du Végétal. It is composed of 21 hardy and undemanding perennials, including thyme, wild thyme, pink delta, soapwort, mountain Alyssum, oregano... A composition based on a trial conducted over several years and on several sites in France by the association Plante & Cité, after which each species was found to be suitable for vegetating roofs. These perennials will occupy the space for many years. They measure between 10 and 25cm in height.

This mix of low perennial plants combines utility with pleasure: blooming throughout the beautiful season while requiring very little maintenance, it restores ecological balance, nourishes bees, and brings life to the most inhospitable places: green roofs, dry gardens, rockeries, gravel beds, arid slopes, joints between paving stones... Easy to maintain, it will suit all amateur gardeners.

Planting and care

Sowing:

This mixture of flowers for dry and shallow soils is sown directly in place, preferably in September-October or in March-April, finely, on the surface of the soil and then lightly rake to cover the seeds. Optionally, roll over to ensure good seed adhesion to the soil. Germination normally takes 14 to 30 days. Water regularly with a fine rain to keep the soil slightly moist until germination.

Cultivation:
When the young plants appear, water well and remove weeds. Water regularly. Once established, the plants rely on rainfall, even if it is scarce. Only water in the summer during very dry and hot periods or if you notice that the plants are suffering.
