Description

'Couleurs de France' is an assortment of annual flowers composed of seeds produced exclusively in France. This selection brings together 14 different species of tall flowering plants, ideal for easily creating colourful summer beds. In just a few weeks, the garden will become a floral picture, enlivened by the flight of foraging insects. Sow the seeds in spring in well-prepared soil. These flowers are maintenance-free and will delight the gardener while preserving biodiversity.

The annuals in this mix do well with regular garden soil. They flower 6 to 10 weeks after sowing, produce seeds, and then die. They will leave behind an abundance of spontaneous seedlings. In addition to their aesthetic qualities, these blooms act as a source of food for foragers and pollinators. The size of the plants varies from 60cm (24in) to 1m (3ft) in height. They bloom from June to October.

Cut and remove the plants in October. Save seeds to reseed the following year.

The seed mix includes: Calendula officinalis, Centaurea cyanus, Agrostemma githago, Centaurea cyanus, Cosmos bipinnatus, Linum grandiflorum, Chrysanthemum, Tagetes patula, Consolida regalis, Lavatera trimestris.

Meadow flowers bloom throughout the summer season. This kind of sowing restores ecological balance. These flowers require very little maintenance. Invite nature into your garden: sow this seed mix in a somewhat neglected area of the garden, near an orchard, on a large embankment, or at the bottom of the garden.

Sowing instructions

Sow directly in their final positions, from March to early June, once the ground has warmed up. Remove all weeds from the soil and rake it to a fine tilth. Sow thinly on the surface of the soil and rake it lightly to cover the seeds. You can also sow at a depth of 1.5mm, in drills spaced 30cm (12in) apart. Germination normally takes 14-21 days.

Growing instructions

When the seedlings appear, water well and remove weeds. Collect their seeds when the plants have finished flowering. Prepare the soil once more and sow the seeds again. Water well to make the seeds adhere to the soil.
