Description

Centaurea pulcherrima 'Major' is a beautiful perennial with a regular and bushy habit. It bears variable leaves, which are sometimes entire and sometimes divided. They are covered with a grey fuzz, especially on the underside. It produces bright pink-mauve flowers with paler centres, carried in solitary heads.

Most of the species are found in a wide area of the Mediterranean. They all prefer light soils, and will tolerate poor and limestoneones. They like full sun. Depending on their size or their tolerance to moist soil, they will find their place in rock gardens or perennial beds. The proposed varieties are all perennials and have a good longevity.
