Description

With this collection, give your garden the exuberance and natural joviality of these beautiful double-flowered narcissus! From April to the end of May, they will illuminate borders, flower beds, and planters with a myriad of generous flowers, in very harmonious shades of yellow, orange, and white. Delicately scented, these narcissus will be perfect for creating magnificent spring bouquets!

The collection of 35 double narcissus consists of:

-5x Narcissus 'Double Beauty': the double flowers reveal a sublime tangle of yellow and orange. The petals emit a sweet fragrance and the flower has good longevity, making narcissus excellent cut flowers. Flowering in April-May on a 40cm (16in) stem.

-20x Narcissus 'Dick Wilden': double, full pompom flowers with a frizzled golden yellow corolla topped with a chubby heart of the same bright yellow colour. Flowering in April on a 45cm (18in) stem.

-10x Narcissus 'Acropolis': large 11cm (4in) double flowers, white, delicately highlighted with orange in their centre. This large narcissus is a historic variety, awarded in England. It is stunning in borders and as a cut flower! Flowers in May, on a 55cm (22in) stem.

Plant this collection of narcissus in any well-drained and loosened, humus-rich soil; however, the results are less good in soils that are too wet in summer or excessively acidic. They will be at home in flower beds or associated with scillas and hyacinths, grape hyacinths, tulips, as well as forget-me-nots or pansies. Plant them under trees, where no one will disturb them: with a little patience, they may naturalize there, forming large luminous carpets in the long run! For a romantic effect, plant them at the base of old roses. In large pots, these narcissus are wonderful... place them near windows or the front door to fully enjoy their subtle fragrance.

These narcissus are also perfect for creating charming bouquets. Beware, narcissus stems contain a substance that quickly wilts other flowers. You can mitigate this detrimental effect by dipping the ends of the narcissus stems in hot water for 1 to 2 minutes. Furthermore, if your tulips open too quickly, you can add two to three ice cubes to the vase every day. Only use very little water, a small amount at their base is enough!

Planting and care

Plant your bulbs as soon as possible in a well-drained soil. Loosen the soil deeply. Plant at a depth of 10cm (4in) (Bulbs should be covered with twice their height of soil). Space the bulbs a few cm apart, making sure they do not touch each other. Choose a sunny location for better flowering. After flowering, cut the flower stems and let the leaves dry completely before removing them.
