Rosa Floribunda Koko Loko™

Koko Loko™ was created by Christian Bédard for Weeks Roses in 2008, then marketed in 2012. Patented under the name Rosa ‘WEKbijou’, it is also known in some countries as 'Soul Sister'. This cultivar is the result of cross-breeding ‘Blueberry Hill’ and ‘Pot O’Gold’. It has been awarded several distinctions, including the AARS Award in 2011, as well as various medals and trophies in Australia in 2013, recognising its originality and horticultural qualities. This rose belongs to the floribunda group, which includes floriferous, often bushy varieties, combining the elegant form of hybrid teas with more abundant and continuous cluster flowering. 
'Koko Loko' has a bushy, rounded to slightly upright habit, well-branched from the base. It forms a shrub of  90cm to 1.40m in height, for 0.75m to 0.90m in width. This rose develops dense, glossy, dark green, deciduous foliage: it loses its leaves in winter except in very mild climates. The stems bear a few slender thorns. Its flowers are very double (about 30 to 35 petals) and measure 10 to 11 cm in diameter. Their turbinate form, sometimes globose when fully open, recalls old-fashioned roses. The colouring evolves from cocoa brown to light mocha, then towards tones of powdery lavender to silver, depending on the light and flowering stage. The fragrance is light to moderate, with notes of apricot or mild spices, more noticeable in the morning or in dry weather. Flowering extends from May-June until October, in successive waves. It slows down at the height of summer, especially in dry, hot weather.
