Description

The 'Cape Town' Tulip is a bicoloured and early variety, with its bright yellow flowers marginated with scarlet red blooming as early as March. With such vibrant colours, it is impossible not to notice it. This tulip is sure to brighten up your garden early in the season.

The long, sturdy stems of the 'Cape Town' Tulip make them excellent cut flowers. Plant them alongside other tulips and bulbs to extend the flowering period in your flower beds. You can also scatter them in your perennial beds while waiting for their flowers, or plant them at the base of your still naked shrubs at the beginning of spring. They will also be perfect for pots and containers.

Planting and care

Place the 'Cape Town' tulips in a sunny or partially shaded spot from late September to December for spring flowering. Plant the bulbs in well-drained and deeply loosened soil, 15 cm (6in) deep. Space the bulbs 10 cm (4in) apart without touching each other to create a mass effect that will give a more decorative appearance. The care required is very easy. Simply water regularly, especially during dry winters, and trim the flower stems after flowering. Allow the leaves to completely dry before cutting them.
