I had already mentioned to you that my young plants were struggling to recover, you had told me to wait.... I can confirm to you that they are not in good condition, and I doubt they will flower!

Description

The plants in the mixture Viola wittrockiana 'F1 Hercule Mix' produce very large flowers with a silky texture. Available in all colours, solid or bicoloured, they all have large central macules in common. These giant pansies are ideal for bordering flower beds and decorating balconies or terraces from spring onwards. These biennials grow quickly and are easy to cultivate in humus-rich and well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade.

Garden pansies, sometimes called Swiss giant pansies, are actually hybrids grouped under the name Viola x wittrockiana. They belong to the viola family and are mostly grown as annuals or biennials, although they are theoretically perennial but short-lived. The plants in the 'F1 Hercule' mix are well-branched, quickly forming 20 cm (7.9 in) tall clumps, 20 to 30 cm (7.9 to 11.8 in) wide. They flower early in the season, from October to the end of spring. The 'F1 Hercule' pansies have very wide flowers, 11 to 12 cm (4.3 to 4.7 in) in diameter, and fully open. In this series, some are solid, while others combine two colours. The colours include white, red, purple, blue, pink, and yellow. Depending on the plants, they may or may not have 3 black macules at the base of the petals, around a tiny, bright yellow and white center. The medium green leaves are elliptical and deeply crenate.

If you love them in the garden, you will appreciate them even more in pots on your windowsill, where you can enjoy their beauty up close while staying warm. You can pair them with primroses, Wallflowers, Grape Hyacinths, Daisies, and even with grasses like Japanese Sedge for a contemporary, graphic effect. Combine them with Heucheras and Tulips. The bluish-green colour of glaucous fescues also highlights them well.

Pansy petals are edible, and their colours will bring a touch of originality to your salads and pastries. To do this, think of growing them as you would grow your vegetables, as naturally as possible.

Note: Attention, our young plug plants are professional products intended for experienced gardeners. Upon receipt, transplant them as soon as possible, in pots, flower beds, or directly in the ground.

Planting and care

Very floriferous and fast-growing, the 'Hercule' F1 Mix pansies are hungry and appreciate a sunny or semi-shaded exposure. They thrive in a humus-rich, neutral to acidic, moist and fertile soil. Feed them with a liquid fertilizer for containers once or twice a week during the growing season. Water regularly but without excess. Regularly remove faded flowers to promote new flowering.
