Description

Myosotis sylvatica 'Roi des Carmins' flowers all spring. Incredibly romantic and light, it produces numerous clusters of small pink flowers with 5 petals, punctuated by a small yellow eye. Its colorful carpets will bring an indescribable charm to flowerbeds, borders, and planters. This compact variety is a very floriferous short-lived perennial plant, most often grown as a biennial, which thrives in any ordinary soil, preferably moist, in full sun or partial shade.

Myosotis sylvatica is a short-lived perennial plant of European origin, perfectly at ease in our climates. It has given rise to numerous horticultural cultivars, including Myosotis 'of the Alps', which should not be confused with Myosotis alpestris. The 'Roi de Carmins' variety quickly forms a small, compact and ramified tuft of 25 cm (10in) in all directions. The first flowering usually takes place in autumn, then the plant patiently awaits the arrival of spring in the form of a cushion of downy foliage. As soon as the first beautiful days arrive, numerous floral stems emerge from the foliage, unfolding as the clusters of flowers bloom. The small flowers, 3 to 10 mm (0in) in diameter, are gathered in racemes and exhibit a carmine red hue illuminated by a small bright yellow centre. Forget-me-nots easily self-seed in light soil, but not always faithfully.

The forget-me-not is traditionally used to enhance bulbous plants and all spring flowers (Daffodils, narcissi, primroses), dwarf irises or tulips, lightening their blooms. You can also plant it in large groups to create a colourful carpet in perennial flowerbeds, borders, and planters. In warmer regions, it will thrive in the shade of woods alongside bleeding hearts or horned violets. The delicate flowers of woodland forget-me-nots are highly decorative in spring bouquets, enhancing large flowers (especially peonies or roses). Not one to be forgotten, its motto could well be: 'Once planted, always there'.

Note: Please be aware that our plug plants are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant them as soon as possible, in pots, planters, or directly in flowerbeds.
