What is the width of the iron and the total height? I didn't see it in the specifications.

A high-quality professional British spade, particularly robust and designed for intensive work. Its blade is made of forged steel, riveted to the hardwood handle by a long socket also made of forged steel. The epoxy finish of the metal parts ensures better resistance to shocks and rust, increasing the lifespan of this very beautiful tool. Its metal and wood YD handle, specific to British tools, allows for excellent grip.

This professional English spade from Spear & Jackson, made of forged steel with an epoxy finish, equipped with a very hard wooden handle, an ergonomic grip and a long riveted socket, is a high-quality garden tool that will satisfy demanding gardeners, both amateur and professional. Extremely sturdy, but a bit heavy, it is perfect for heavy-duty work.

The spade is an essential tool, designed for lifting, turning, loosening and crumbling the soil deeply, in small areas. Fertiliser (well-decomposed compost, organic fertiliser, horse manure...) can be incorporated into the soil at the same time it is turned over. The spade, with its sharp edges, can also be used to prepare planting holes, dig, cut roots, or pull out certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips). This model consists of a very weather-resistant hard wooden handle. The socket is a long, two-lipped socket made of forged steel covered with epoxy, securely attached to the handle with rivets. It accommodates the sharpened blade made of a single piece of forged steel, resistant to both shocks and torsion. The epoxy paint provides additional protection against rust, soil oxidizing agents, and scratches. The shaft, ending with a metal handle covered with wood, in the typical YD style of English tools, multiplies the force: you can exert your full weight to drive the head into the soil. This tool is guaranteed for 10 years by the manufacturer.

The company Spear & Jackson has been selling tools for gardening, agriculture, and landscaping to both professionals and amateurs since 1760! Today, their range reflects all this experience by offering innovative, superior quality products adapted to a wide range of uses.

Directions for use The spade is an essential tool, designed for lifting, turning, loosening and crumbling the soil deeply, in small areas. Fertiliser (well-decomposed compost, organic fertiliser, horse manure...) can be incorporated into the soil at the same time as it is turned over. The sharp blade can also be used to make planting holes, clean edges, cut roots, and pull out certain vegetable plants (leeks, potatoes, carrots, turnips). It is a suitable tool for any type of light or compact soil but not stony (prefer the fork or pickaxe in this case). It can also be used for various small earthworks. Clean your tool after use and store it away from bad weather.
