Received and planted in April. Despite the drought and heat of this summer, pure white flower, huge, with excellent stem support (not staked). Highly recommended. Very pretty in a bouquet. Seems eternal, despite the weather conditions.

Description

The Dahlia 'Snowstorm', is a variety of decorative dahlia with white flowers that blooms from July to October.

This perennial has tuber roots, swollen. Gathered in bundles, these tubers produce upright, hollow and branched stems, bearing compound leaves with rounded leaflets. Strong, fleshy stems, 100cm (39in) tall, are topped with flowers with broad, flattened, rather incurved ligules, 13cm (5in) in diameter, white in colour.

The Dahlia 'Snowstorm' thrives in rich, clay but healthy soil, worked deeply in a warm and sunny location, sheltered from prevailing winds. It struggles in poor, sandy soils.

The Dahlia 'Snowstorm' is used in mixed flower beds or for making bouquets.

Tips: When planting, take into account the dimensions for the composition of your flower beds.

Planting and care

Dahlia 'Snowstorm' should be planted from mid-April to early May, at a depth of 10 to 15cm (4 to 6in) and with a spacing of 60cm (24in). Always use stakes and tie the young stems loosely. Add slow-release compost or organic fertilizer during planting and liquid fertilizer once a month during the growing season. Water without wetting the foliage. There is no need to remove buds on this variety. Treat against aphids and slugs. Dig up the tubers before the frost, cutting the stems 15cm (6in) from the stump. Store them in a cool, well-ventilated, dark place that is not too damp. Replant in early May when the risk of frost has passed.
