Description

Erysimum mutabile is a beautiful perennial forming a bushy clump with flexible stems. The matte greyish-green foliage is composed of small elongated evergreen leaves. It boasts a very pretty flowering, which is initially bright yellow to pale-yellow, turning fawn and then purplish-brown.

Planting and care

Close to wallflowers, these floriferous undershrubs will find a place in a rock garden, paving, an embankment, or in a flower bed. They prefer, lean and poor, sandy or stony soil, even limestone. They have a short lifespan in rich and moist soil. They are sensitive to temperatures below -12 to -15° (10.4 to 5°F). It will make numerous spontaneous sowings in gravelly soil.
