Description

This name can be spelt with 1 or 2 n's. Logically, it should be Nonnea since it is named in honour of J.P. Nonne, a German botanist from the 18th century, but logic and botany do not always go hand in hand. A hardy perennial plant for wild gardens, it is mainly interesting for its very long flowering period.

A rosette of rough, lanceolate, long and narrow, bright green leaves with sparse hairs, resembling those of Lindelofia. The flowering stems bear small dark purple, almost black flowers in succession over a very long period.
