Description

These perennial plants, formerly classified as Polygonum and then renamed Reynoutria, may have finally found their definitive name. With great vigor, they can become very invasive. Some have even naturalized in Europe to the point of supplanting local weeds when conditions are favorable.

Superb plants with sucker-producing rhizomes from which emerge in spring robust stems that can exceed 3 meters (10 feet) in height. The heart-shaped leaves are matte green. White spike flowers appear late in the season. Very easy to cultivate in any moist, even damp, heavy and clayey soil, in the sun or in the shade.
